I think this is going to be my last post for a while seeing as though I enter the MTC tomorrow morning.
So... wish me luck! The next 18 months are going to be good, and hard, but mostly good.
I know you won't miss this blog too much seeing as though I post about once a month.
And, as any missionary will request... write me! Not just the first month, but all 18 of them.

Upon further inspection...
To begin, today I had my missionary shower... like a bridal or baby shower. It was wonderful. Honestly, the women in my ward are so amazing and so generous. I received more gifts than I have probably my last 5 Christmas Days and Birthdays combined. That aside, it was a great little party so I thought I would upload a couple pictures!
Next... I was searching through some pictures that my mom has saved on the computer. I decided to upload some of my favorites! You might notice that many of these are taken by you, yes, you, my wonderful friends, and she saves them as her own on the computer! Ha, she is great.

Favorite
This movie is my new favorite movie. I saw it with Kaylie, LJ, and Shipley a while back. Last night my dad and I rented it. He fell asleep and I fell in love all over again.

An Analytical Approach to Justin Bieber's My World 2.0
Recently I have become ill with what some are calling "Bieber Fever". It has plagued me, and in consequence all those around me because of my need to listen to Justin Bieber all day, everyday. On my drive to work today I was feeling especially sick, and therefore started analyzing the masterpiece known as "My World 2.0". This blog will not discuss every song, just the finer pieces.
The album begins with the song "Baby", ft. Ludacris. This song and its accompanying dance are favorites of many. Baby is a strong way to begin an album as it is a hit single, very catchy and relatable. The only negative thing that can be said about this song is that although the music video for Baby is the number one most viewed video on youtube, it has more dislikes than likes.
Justin then transitions into "Somebody to Love". This is his second single from the album, and a strong one at that. Somebody to Love is both catchy and easy to dance to. As the young kids say, it makes one want to 'get down'. Although I enjoy the album version of this song, I prefer the remix with Usher.
"Stuck in the Moment", track three, compares the love Bieber feels for a girl with the love of history's most famous couples. These include Romeo and Juliet, Bonnie and Clyde, Adam and Eve, and my personal favorite, Sonny and Cher. The way he cleverly includes "I got you baby", when referring to Sonny and Cher, is something that will no doubt be remembered for ages. The song initially made zero impression on me as it follows two of the album's stronger pieces, but since then has become a personal favorite.
We will quickly discuss "U Smile", the fourth track. Other than the blatant disregard for proper spelling of the word 'you', U Smile is an enjoyable enough song and is Bieber's next single.
Now it is appropriate to skip down to "Eenie Meenie". This song features Sean Kingston, well known for singing "Beautiful Girls". Kingston begins the song with the lyrics "She's indecisive, she can't decide". I am unsure as to why he didn't continue with the rest of the song in this manner. The next lyric, instead of "She keeps on looking, from left to right", should have been something along the lines of "She keeps on looking, her eyes keep scanning." Some other catchy phrases they could have included in the song are things such as, She is beautiful, she has appealing features; I hugged her, we embraced... things of that nature. Next time Sean and Justin should check in with me before finalizing an album. The duo is strong on this track and it is engaging to the ears. The use of "eenie meenie miney moe" is clever and takes most of us back to our childhood, a period of great joy. This is a very enjoyable song and possibly my favorite on the album.

The Mitten
Thus far I have been home in the mitten for just over a week. Michigan! Oh, how I rave about you when I am at school and with my friends. Do you disappoint me?
This morning I went for a run. It was only 64 out, so I ran in a long sleeve shirt. Fall. The smell of fall. You can imagine it if you try. Falling leaves, spice donuts, apple cider. These are a few of my favorite things. Fall was the dominant smell on my run. The cider mill less than a mile from my house helped this smell to prevail.
Cider mill, apple orchard, hayride, renaissance festival, cabin up north. Activities that I haven't had in my life for 3 years. Being 2,000 miles away makes it inconvenient to head over to Parmenters or Erwin's Orchards.
Utah.
Being away from my friends, my family for the past 3 years, that is hard. Their lives continue and my life is kind of on a stand still until November. DQ, home, DQ, home. Repeat. Mission!
I miss school. I honestly never, ever, thought I would say that. Get me in that biochem class! I want to learn from the likes of Steven G. Wood. Football games! I envy all 64,045 patrons of the Washington game. Rah, rah, rah, rah, rah... go cougars! I annoy John when I sing the fight song at work. "No more singing tonight."
Here I sit at the DQ, jamming out to Justin Bieber, not scared of my work security because they need me. I'm a shift leader. My sweatshirt: "Give me all your ice cream and nobody gets hurt!" Story of my life.
I told Mr. Neubert that I was scared of getting sick of Michigan in my two months out here.
"Well, that could happen. Two months is a long time. Do you still have friends out there?"
No, no I don't. My father is my friend and Sam wants to be my friend. I can play with them, and I am satisfied with that.
So, I dedicate this post to the mitten. I dedicate this post to my goal of rereading Harry Potter and Hunger Games before my mission.

Missionary
Dear Sister Harris,
You are hereby called to serve as a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. You are assigned to labor in the Utah Salt Lake City Temple Square Mission...
You should report to the Provo Missionary Training Center on Wednesday, November 10, 2010.
Missionary. After months of indecision and worry, I have my mission call. I am serving in Temple Square. Temple Square! How great is that?
I feel as though some people may feel disappointed for me. "You can go anywhere in the world and you're serving 40 minutes from where you live now?" Yes, yes I am. Many, many emotions have crossed my mind since I opened my call. Disappointment is not one of them. I am so happy. I will have the opportunity to share my testimony with so many people! While at Temple Square I won't have the opportunity to teach the lessons to people and watch them from start to baptism, but that is fine. I want the opportunity to make a good impression. Maybe when people have more experiences with the Church, they will remember the Spirit at Temple Square and the sister missionary that shared with them her conversion story. I have always known that I can be a powerful tool in the Lord's hand. Now, I am beginning to realize how he intends to use me.
Today I talked to my parents on the phone about my call. They heard me open it last night and haven't heard much since. It was amazing to hear what they had to say about it. They were so excited, and so relived. They spoke of how the Lord had chosen me for this mission for myself, but also for them. I know that is true. We had a great conversation and they want to drive me out to the MTC in November. Nothing would make me happier. I want to show them where I will be and where I have been for the past 3 years. It will be strange for me to not talk to my father everyday on the phone. But, I know that my letters will bring a special spirit to their lives and that spirit will talk to them everyday.
This Church is love. This Church is true. This Church is Christ's. I am so honored to have been called to be a missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Today is the day
Dear World,
I have turned in my papers to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
My call is here today.
I always said that I would open my call immediately with only my family on the phone.... Well, my best friends out here are my family as well, and therefore I want them to be here.
So, tonight at 5-5:30, my best friends are coming over and I am opening my mission call.
Stand by to hear as to where I'm going!
